Episode 1: Welcome and Work/Life Clarity

In our first episode, we introduce ourselves and talk about the idea and vision behind the Smart Habits for Translators Podcast.

We are your hosts, Madalena Sánchez Zampaulo and Veronika Demichelis—freelance translators who love our work but also want to have a healthy and happy lifestyle!

Our goal is to have friendly conversations about smart habits and talk about different strategies that will help translators stay focused and organized while finding joy and clarity in their work and personal life. We believe that it’s important to be intentional and gracious with yourself and the stage of life that you’re in, to surround yourself with like-minded and supportive people, and be open about issues we all struggle with. We look forward to having these conversations with you!

What you'll hear in this episode:

  • Who we are and what we do

  • How we came up with the idea for the Smart Habits for Translators Podcast, and what our vision for it is

  • What smart habits are

  • Why we prefer the term “work/life clarity” and not “work/life balance”

  • How to find your own work/life clarity

  • How to set boundaries and priorities intentionally

Balance is not better time management, but better boundary management. Balance means making choices and enjoying those choices.
